The closest Jew to President Lincoln was his tailor Myer, whose store was prominently shown in one of the first photos in the New York Historical Society Exhibit on Lincoln and the Jews. I went to school with Myers’ great granddaughter.
Apparently, ! Lincoln was not the only US President, whose tailor was Jewish, I think, others included Clinton, but Lincoln may have been the first. Lincoln learned to love the Bible from his step mother and always had an abiding love for Jews, who played a prominent role in his political career in Illinois.
