As an educator for 25 years and mother of five, I couldn’t agree more. They used to be called helicopter parents, hovering around trying to deflect every perceived threat. Then the term bubble wrap parents was coined, indicating an even higher level of involvement in protecting children from every perceived ill. Personally, I think we’re moving on to SWAT team parents. I see more and more parents on the attack and teachers who need to make a full accounting of their recent interactions with a student before responding to a parent inquiry.
