One of the greatest teachers I ever had was in elementary school at the North Shore Hebrew Academy in Great Neck, N.Y. Her name then was Susan Lampert, today she is Susan Lieberman. She basically saved me from a very difficult class where I was teased and tormented for being different. I did not come from the same socioeconomic level as the extremely privileged children from Great Neck, I had different clothing and did not get to fly every school break to Puerto Rico or the Bahamas. As a matter of fact I had only been on an airplane once in my life when we flew to Israel for my Dad’s sabbatical when I was in the first grade. “Morah” Lieberman was a kind person, she saw everything that went on and never turned a blind eye. she also encouraged my love for learning because everything she taught, she taught with a passion. Her her love for Torah, Mitzvot and the Hebrew language shined through everything she taught me. She was my teacher for three years in a row and to this day I will never forget her kindness and support during probably the three toughest years of my childhood. I just wanted to have the opportunity to thank her again for being such a wonderful compassionate person, I will never forget the kindness you showed me.
