Rav Herczeg forwarded your article… Two points… My classmate at Chaim Berlin was the first and only Columbia law to “ace” every single class with a 10… He received offers from the top law firms… but every single one denied him a position since he insisted on wearing his yarmulke…. In the end he went with a second class firm, which was more than delighted and allowed him to take a year to learn Torah before starting his career. This article takes me all the way back to UCLA, circa 1968. Graduating from a Modern Orthodox high school, I, along with two friends, decided we would wear our yarmulkes when attending classes at UCLA. We were the only three on campus that year. There were taunts (“Hey Jew boy, what’s that beenie on your head”) and one kid tried make me hear “voices” by calling, in a surreptitious, hidden voice “Isaiah, Isaiah” (my Biblical English name, the only name I used at the time, and before there were many sports stars with that name).
