An interesting story which I heard said about Rav Breuer, ztzl, who lived to a very old age, is that he was blessed by someone to live to be 120 years, when he was already passed 70, and he responded, “varum bagreinict zu meir?” Why are you limiting me?

Fascinating. Until 120 appears to be unmasked by your discourse as an urban myth. Wishing you and all readers full days and long years.

I’d like to believe that if nowadays, an old woman complained to her rabbi that she was losing her zest for life because, due to lost sense of taste and smell, she could no longer enjoy food or drink, this rabbi would send her for a Covid 19 test instead.

In Israel, many have revised the saying to “Ad Me’ah Ke‘Esrim Shanah.

At a hesped for Rav Elyashiv zt”l he was quoted as saying why only 120? why not 150 or 200 years? (Someone had asked him why when a talmid chochom is niftar people say “Oy, he died because of the sins of the generation”)

Let's live to 120, because we are supposed to be wise at that age. Very beautiful wish! Health and long life to all!
