Thank you for this interesting article! I wonder then, if eggs are made in a newer device that steams them rather than boiling them together, if the same minhag would apply…?

Unfertilized eggs also can have blood spots. Very rare. Even more rare are situations in which the inside of the egg is mixed with blood. Also, a an even rarer situation called ‘parthenogenesis’ can occur which results in an unfertilized egg with a developing embryo. Every one of these cases are extremely rare. Most blood spots of unfertile eggs are a result of the hen’s slightly hemorrhaging during the egg’s formation. There’s an issue, in modern eggs, with white versus brown eggs.
