I think being aware of G_d and his protection and thinking of the special relationship and your duty to mankind is the most important aspect. The mezuzah is more of a physical reminder because humans are forgetful. Trust me, the protection is real. even if only the idea of the mezuzah exist in your head, the mere thought of an imaginary one is sufficient to protect. It’s not the object that matter. It’s the connection between you and G_d. I absolutely love that story. Especially the whole concept of where the lord and the servants are, and who guard who.… Read more »
