Each of us will steadfastly avoid the swimming pool the week before Tisha B’Av, and consume the requisite egg a la ash at the seudah mafseket. Yet for most of us, thoughts of the destruction of the Beit Hamikdash don’t really send us looking for a tissue to wipe away the tears, let alone sink us into deep depression.
