Guest Pass

Though through serrated holes

of branched schach

above this temporary

haven,

I espy milky vapor trail

of His departed chariot

wheeling past,

the heavenly host

of circuiting stars.

I’m reassured

that His presence

will remain with me

for a rustic week,

ushpizah that I am

to the Landlord of my sukkah.
